Khalil Gibran

Born in 1883, Khalil Gibran was a Lebanese poet, writer and artist who immigrated with his parents to Boston at the age of 12. He returned to his homeland to studying in 1898, within 6 years he had lost his Mother, sister and half-brother to illness.

Gibran settled in New York in 1911, his work is written in both Arabic and English, the most popular being 'The Prophet' published in 1923.

Khalil Gibran died on April 10th 1931 from cancer. He is buried in his homeland at the Mar Sarkis monastery, where here there is a museum dedicated to his work.
